What is supervised parenting?

Supervised parenting services provide a safe, neutral, and child-focused environment for parents and children to spend time together when there are court orders, safety concerns, family conflict, or a need for additional support during parenting time.

The goal of supervised parenting is to help maintain and strengthen the parent-child relationship while ensuring the safety and well-being of everyone involved. Services may be ordered by the court, recommended by professionals, or voluntarily requested by families.

At Kids Over Conflict, we offer both non-clinical supervision and clinical supervision, depending on the unique needs of the family.

Understanding Supervisor Roles: Clinical vs. Non-Clinical

CLINICAL PARENTING SUPERVISORS

NON- CLINICAL PARENTING SUPERVISORS

NON- CLINICAL PARENTING SUPERVISORS

Clinical Supervision is provided by a licensed mental health professional and includes therapeutic support in addition to supervision.

  • Support healthy parent-child interactions
  • Provide coaching and guidance during visits
  • Address emotional, behavioral, or relational concerns
  • Assist with family reunification efforts
  • Offer therapeutic observations and recommendations when appropriate

Clinical Supervision is often beneficial when there has been a prolonged separation, family trauma, mental health concerns, reunification needs, or when the court specifically requests therapeutic involvement.

NON- CLINICAL PARENTING SUPERVISORS

NON- CLINICAL PARENTING SUPERVISORS

NON- CLINICAL PARENTING SUPERVISORS

A Non-Clinical Supervisor will provide the following:

  • Monitors interactions between parent and child
  • Maintains a safe and neutral environment
  • Documents factual observations during visits
  • Facilitates safe arrivals and departures when needed
  • Does not provide counseling, therapy, opinions, or recommendations

Non-Clinical Supervised parenting is often appropriate when supervision is required for safety, conflict reduction, or court compliance, but no therapeutic intervention is needed.
